Wrap sling or mei tai

Hi mums netters. I have a large 6 month old baby (currently in 1 year old clothes) and can't decide between these two slings. I want to get one to carry him on the back at home and currently have a stretchy wrap sling.

What are your thought/recommendations on both for a large baby?

Thanks.

BTW I'm new to mumsnet so don't know if this has been discussed before, etiquettes etc.

A Mei-Tai would be perfect for back carries, in my opinion.

I don't even believe you can do back carries with a stretchy wrap? Confused Not sure...

Hi thank you for your reply.

No I was told not to do it with a stretchy wrap as the baby can get loose and the way my one wriggles it wouldn't surprise me. I was referring to the woven ones. I think I am try a second hand mei tai then. Any recommendations on brands?

try searching for the Slings and Things - FSOT and advice group on facebook, you can get second hand ones on there, and its a good place to sell on if you buy one you don't get on with. there are so many brands! it depends on what you are looking for-main things to think about are size of main panel and strap length, and do you want a hood or not. i have an ellaroo mei tai, which is great but now ive got a few slings ive realised that its considered a 'baby size' mei tai.

The Mei-Tai I've used is a Babyhawk, which was great - I don't know any other brands but I'm sure there are loads!
As umboo says, that one is "baby-size" - they do a Toddlerhawk for later. We also had one with extra long straps so DH could use it too.
