So why is the babasling so bad?

I had a babasling for DS when he was newborn, but stopped using it when I got a SSC as it was easier to carry 2 shouldered. Have just found it while sorting cupboards, and was just wondering why they get such a slating?

Do they really feel much different to a ring sling?

I found mine hard to get right - didn't feel right most of the time. Id sometimes feel faint as the pad on my shoulder used to slip towards my neck constricting circulation Blush

I think they can be good but you need to be dexterous about putting them on and adjusting correctly. I think also they work best for smaller babies or later as a kind of hip sling.Smile

Because you can't adjust it as much as a ring sling, you can't tighten top and bottom rails independently. However the same is true of all pouch slings and personally I quite like a pouch for alittle one and still use my pouch for my 5 month old for a hip carry. However, babaslings are "bag" style which means that a baby being carried cradle style can be too deep in the sling and too curled up which can obstruct breathing. In addition the bag style means the sling sort of closes over the baby so you can't see them properly which can be very dangerous.

The BabaSling isn't a 'bag' sling like the Premaxx and Infantino bag slings. But it isn't as adjustable as a normal ring sling, and most people struggle to get it comfy. That said, I have met occasional people who really liked it (and a lot who really didn't).

I just found it criminally uncomfortable- hated the darn thing in fact! wasn't any good when dd was teeny and re-tried when she was sitting and found it just as rubbish. Dd was never in a comfy safe position and I always had something digging in somewhere.

was so glad when I stopped trying and evicted it!
(It's def not a bag sling though, I wouldn't use one.)
