Sounds like you want a soft structured carrier like an ergo, Manducca, rose and rebellion, et al.

What shape/height are you? Do you want front or back carries mostly? Just you or using it it others as well?

moocowmrs · 28/05/2012 19:11

I am small and a bit round ! Have only done front facing so far.

If you're planning front carries then a Manducca can cross straps over at the back, which is comfier than rucksack style.

Can you get to a local slingmeet to try some out?

Thanks think that is the best way forward. Got a Moby by default really at loved it but think I need to but some thought into this one.

I second the sling library / sling meet idea. I run one and have had so many people leave with not-the-thing-they-came-for because they changed their minds about what they wanted when they tried things out.

If you do indeed want a SSC, different brands work for different people too.

I agree with the SSC idea. If you want it really light and cool, a Connecta Solarweave might suit you. But it doesn't have an attached chest strap, only a separate accessory strap you can use in the same way (could sew it on yourself I suppose).

Don't recommend a Beco for front carries, they have a layer of fabric between you so it's harder to feed, and hotter.

Hi, I'm in the same situation and having been to my local sling library Im looking for a cool fabric woven wrap that is about 5.2 metres as I can't reach behind me to tie knots so need a bit more length. Can anyone suggest brands to look for or avoid?
