Okay, so I had a carrier to use when DS was born but he was too small for it, put it in the cupboard, forgot about it and went to use it the other day and he's way too big for it. :( So, I now need a new carrier.

Any suggestions? Extra info, I have various health problems so need one that will distribute the weight well.

There's a big difference between the Babyhawk (a mei tai) and the Babyhawk Oh Snap (a buckle carrier).

The latter has a much more structured waist and is suitable for much bigger and heavier babies/children. The babyhawk mei tai is more of a 3-15 month old carrier. The Oh Snap more of an 8-36 months sort of a carrier (although I think it would work for a 6 month old who is at the very top end of the centiles).

I would go for something with a padded waist given you have a) a heavy-for-his-age baby and b) health problems so need to weight spread well. So would avoid the babyhawk mei tai as the waist isn't padded enough for heavier kids imo.

There is a Glasgow sling library that meets fortnightly - I'd go along there and see what works for you if you possibly can. Different things work for different people www.facebook.com/pages/Glasgow-Sling-Meet/117989748279590?sk=info

Thanks for that. :-) I will go along to the next one, tbh I didn't realise there were so many different types of carriers!
