Hi
We were very lucky to be given a second hand baby bjorn which has been great, but now our LO is getting bigger im starting to find it uncomfortable for longer periods and worry that she's not quite so comfortable in it either. It sometimes feels a bit snug. She's 13 months. I'm also worried that the plastic clips at the bottom will give way!
We also got a backpack, but I find it just too heavy to use. (Great for my dad or DH though.)
Would it be worth trying to get a carrier with an waist strap to spread the weight? Or can anyone advise me about adjusting the straps or something to make it more comfortable - how high should the crossover be?

Thanks

In my experience there isn't any way to get a Bjorn comfortable for a 13 month old....I'm impressed you lasted that long!

I would go for a SSC (secure structured carrier) with a waistband. The Babyhawk Oh Snap is a good one for the size of your daughter (it's bigger than many 'standard' sized carriers), but I'd also really recommend the Manduca. Lots of people love the Ergo or Boba or the several other possibilities too though.

Are you anywhere near a sling library or sling meet? Different brands suit different people's frames so if you could go and try before you buy it would likely be worth it. Have a look at www.slingmeet.co.uk or the UK sling libraries network.

Thank you. I'll have a look at those. Unfortunately I won't be able to make my next local sling meet - it sounds great.
