I honestly don't think it is ideal to bf a newborn on the go in a sling. A ringsling can be good for sitting down, loosening the sling a bit and bfing with them still in it but also supported by you, but for safety reasons I think you really need to be focussed on what they are doing. There is a risk, albeit a small risk, of them choking when bf in a sling if not in quite the right position.

Last time I had a newborn I had a 16 month old, and this time will have a 2.5 year old and just turned 4 year old. I am hoping to get by again with:

  • lots of books to hand for snuggling next to me and reading
  • box of toys/activities that come out at feeding time
  • feeding and singing multitasking!
  • Cbeebies Blush

FWIW the ring slings I like best are a) those made from woven wraps - e.g. Didymos, Storchenwiege, Neobulle, Girasol, Natibaby, Oscha etc, and b) Sakura bloom ones - these are stupidly expensive new but often more reasonably priced 2nd hand
