Babywearing coats.

Can anyone recommend a not too pricy, relatively stylish coat suitable for front or back carries?

I was looking at the mama jacket - any feedback?

I used to have a Mama Jacket. It was okay - I wouldn't avoid it or rave about it. I picked it because it was a bit less german-hiking-jacket than the others.

The insert tends to bobble a bit after a while. The head hole is too small, so you end up just leaving the top of the insert unzipped, front and back, and putting their head through the gap instead.

Do you front carry or back carry, or a bit of both? If you mainly front carry, a cover like the Hoppediz babywearing cover or similar is pretty good worn with your normal coat unbuttoned.

Price-wise the Lenny Lamb ones seem pretty good compared to some of the alternatives, but I've never tried one en.lennylamb.com/babywearing_coats

IMO they are more useful before your baby is regularly walking. Once they want to get down when you get to the park, it's better to wrap them warm and put the sling over your coat, otherwise you have to put all their warm weather gear in the park or whatever. So that might be one winters or two depending on your baby's birthday.

Bit of both, April baby so not walking yet but planning on reusing for DC2 and potentially as a maternity winter coat? Aiming for a feb baby!

German hiking jacket = my thoughts exactly.
