Am a complete sling novice and despite having trawled these threads am really confused about what to buy. All I know is I'm regretting the BabyBjorn purchase...

DD loves being carried in the BB active but she is now 12 weeks and my back is killing me!

I love the look of some of the fabric wraps but am put off by the complicated tying - I do like being able to pop her in and go!

Would be really grateful for recommendations for an alternative that is quick and easy to get on but will be less stress on the back. Also, DH uses the carrier a lot too so it needs to be capable of fitting very broad back and shoulders.

Thank you!

How about a soft buckle carrier like a Manduca? The method of putting her in and fastening buckles is no more complicated than the bjorn, but it will last much longer. You can back carry with it too as she gets bigger.

I run a sling library and have seen people of all shapes and sizes get on with it.

I prefer it to the Ergo (a similar and more known choice) as a) It has an integrated insert for when they're smaller rather than the extra insert the ergo has, which I don't really rate; b) You can cross the straps across your back in a front carry more easily, which I find more comfy; and c) There are lots of fake ergos floating about on ebay etc so buying from any other than an authorised retailer just now is risky.

Wraps aren't too complicated once you get the knack, but if they're not your thing they're not your thing!

Are you anywhere near a sling meet or sling library (check www.slingmeet.co.uk)? That way you could go and have a play around with some before you buy.

Thank you pootlebug - the Manduca looks great. There's a sling library not too far away from me (thanks for that website link) so will get along there to try before I buy!
