Ergo vs Manduca

I love the look of the Ergo (grey galaxy with stars = gorgeous!) but cant decide if not having a front facing option is going to bother me, the Manduca would be my alternative and it has the plus of being able to forward face baby and you dont need to buy an additional infant insert so its a bit cheaper too.

I probably wouldnt be bothered with forward facing until bubs is about 6mths as I think any younger than that and it can be a bit too stimulating perhaps with no option to turn away from everything in their face but from 6mths onwards would back carrying be enough in the Ergo or will I regret not having forward facing.

Decisions Decisions, your experience / advice appreciated!

I have the ergo and carry dd (15m) in it every day. she is not bothered at all that she isn't forward facing and has a great view from up there either in front of my chest or on my back.
it washes well and it is definitely one of the best pieces of baby equipment I have ever bought!

No knowledge of the Manuduca I'm afraid but just bought an Ergo and really pleased with it (DS is 6 months). I got it via a great site mentioned on here (www.baby-bean.com) and you get a 10% discount with the code (SMILE) if I've remembered it correctly. Just in case you decide to go down the Ergo route.

At 6 months DS seems to be able to have a good look around anyway even when not forward facing so it doesn't seem a problem (so far....)

I have a manduca, and as far as i know there is not a facing out option- have checked the instruction leaflet, and no mention of it there. Aside from that, I find it very comfy in both the forward and back carry position with my 15 month old DD.

Ooof I've obviously mixed that one up then, preggy brain strikes again, hmmmm, maybe it was the Beco Gemini.... ah yes a quick google says that the Beco Gemini does do forward facing.

Argh I was supposed to narrow down my choices not add another option to the mix LOL

Ok, after a little bit more research all in all it appears that forward facing in a carrier is really not recommended for littlies and once they are a bit older they can go on your back which gives them the option of turning away from the stimulation that forward facing doesnt.

So now I'm happy that forward facing isnt neessary I guess its just a case of choosing between the Ergo / Manduca / Beco, I guess fit and price become the main issues.

Blimmen heck this pregnancy seems to have eroded all ability to just make a decision Wink
