Baby backpack for country walks

We are going on holiday soon and I want to buy a backpack that will hold my 1yo, as well as general stuff we need to take walking. As I will be about 6 months pregnant at the time I anticipate my husband doing most of the carrying.
Which backpacks would be best for this kind of use, including a decent storage capacity? I wondered if anyone had tried the Phil and Teds Metro carrier? I like the fact that it has a sun canopy.

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for a backpack carrier for your baby or toddler, we’ve recently updated our best baby carrier backpacks article with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

The ergo has an additional backpack sort of thing you can add for carrying extra stuff.

I've got the Little Life Explorer, which has a sunshade and optional extra wind/rain cover. It also has quite a large space built-in for carrying stuff, as well as a small detachable rucksack
Both me and DH find it comfy to carry.
