Worried I will suffocate baby in babybjorn

I have a baby bjorn for my five week old - I feel it holds her very close to my boobs though and am worried I will suffocate her - I have to keep checking her nose is clear. Is it possible to sufficate baby in a sling and how can I avoid this or is this type of sling just not made for breasts (my husband finds it okay)

I know the feeling, the first time I took little Dc1 out in that kind of sling I was so worried and ended up not using it until he was bigger because of it. A bit of PFB but you have to be happy.

For dc2 I got a close sling which let's you lie them down more like a cradle so their face is clear. I think I'll use the more structured one when she's older as it is more rigid for a bigger weight.

Not much help I appreciate short of buying another sling!!

this one was a present so we didn't spend money on it. First time I used it I went to doctor round the corner from me literally and carried her home in my arms as I hated it so much. At home it is invaluable for her sleeping while I get some stuff done though as she doesn't like her moses basket in the day it seems (she doesn't much like it at night but that is another story).

I have to take her on the london underground today though and hand her over to her dad to bring her home (we live together but I have to do some stuff in town so we are doing a great handover for a couple of hours - me going to work and him coming home from work) and I can;t face doing the stairs with the buggy, so am going to do the sling.

The Baby Bjorn slings don't tend to get good marks for comfort in reviews and lots of people seem to give up on carriers because their only experience was with a BB.

If you don't like it, I recommend trying something different. There's plenty of good second-hand carriers around if money is an issue.

Yeah, BB's aren't great for positioning...or very much at all really.

You want a sling which hold her lovely and high so you can kiss the top of her head with ease. If she's up that high, her face won't be in boobs-ville at all.

Flog the BB, and buy a stretchy wrap

From what I've read you only need to worry about suffocation with bag slings. Many have been withdrawn from the US market for that reason. We were given one but never used it and went and bought a BB which we've used from day 1. It's great. DD loves it and hates the pram. Our only worry is what to do when she outgrows it!
