Hi all,
I'm after a baby carrier that i can use for my 8 week old.
We had a cheap argos one but it hurts my shoulders and DS hangs down too low.

I ordered the baba ling but to me it doesnt look very safe as i want to use it for putting him in when he wont settle to go around doing bits and bobs around house.
But also for going shopping in.

I dont want to spend more than £40 as ive already spent £30+ on the babasling and dont think i can return

Xmas Smile x

Get a stretchy wrap carrier like a Moby or Kari Me - or these are a good cheaper make. This type of sling is a lot more supportive than the kind you will have got at Argos.

You could also make your own by buying 5 metres of cotton jersey and cutting to 20" wide. You don't need to hem it. Then look up instructions for tying online :)

i use 2 slings for 8 week dd.
the wilkinet is more structured, and i like it for out and about. it looks like a bjorn but the weight distribution is entirely different, so it's more comfy.

at home i use a kari-me wrap. i was a bit sceptical about tying it, but it's very easy and feels really secure.

both were bought from ebay, with a total spend of about £35 for the pair.

For a little baby like this, get one of the stretchy wraps already mentioned by pps (Moby, Kari-Me etc..) I also liked the Close baby carrier, which is made of the same kind of material but is semi-structured.

If you're going to be using it a lot, something which only goes over one shoulder like the BabaSling may not be the best choice. For maximum comfort you want the weight distributed evenly across your body.

Ebay is a good bet for a bargain, as is the Yahoo slings and wraps group where you can buy, sell or swap baby carriers.

Shamelessly nicking ideas from this thread--baby number 2 is barely more than a clump of cells but I want something I can use to keep DC2 on me so I can still go out and move around with DD. The Kari-Me looks ideal, but honestly is it easy to fasten? I'm a little intimidated by the looks of it!
