My DD doesn't like slings!

My nearly 3 week old dd doesn't like either the moby or freedom slings I bought, and at 7lb is not yet big enough to try the baby born that a friend lent me.

She is not keen on being swaddled generally and in the moby and freedom doesn't seem to like having her head covered or restricted movement unless she's already asleep. She's a very alert baby and likes to take it all when she's awake, but that doesn't help me get her in a sling or get anything done.

Are there any other carriers you could recommend? I really don't want to have to resign myself to using a pram, to me they are as annoying as a handbag!

Help?

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem with the Kari Me - my dd does not like not being able to see all around and check out what's going on. I also think she feels insecure, as it feels to me as if the whole sling is slowly sliding off. So far it has not fallen off and looks to be in exactly the same position when I take it off as it was when I put it on. Is this a common feeling with slings or am I just not cut out for sling wearing?

What about trying a cradle carry, so she can see out a bit more?

She will get used to it, but babies all have different personalities. Some like to be able to hide away in a sling, others prefer a view!

Gillymin - she will feel insecure if you feel insecure! If you tying the Kari Me as per the instructions, its perfectly safe. Try and relax.

You could both see if there is a Slingmeet nearby you, so you can get some hands-on help and advice?

Babywearing is such a lovely thing. I still carry my 15 month old every day, and I love it.
