Catbird Mei Tai vs Ellaroo Mei Tai

Does anyone have experience with either of these? What do you think?

The main difference I can see is in the carrying positions- the Catbird can have front forward facing. I really liked the sound of this but I emailed littlepossums.co.uk and they said that they dont really recommend this position as it is uncomfortable for mum and baby. Does anyone use this position and how do you find it?

Also, the Ellaroo seems to have a new curved top style as here but the instructions on their website for wearing are based on the old style where the top is like a rectangle that you fold in when not in use. Is the new style equally mouldable, ie can you put it away or do you just keep it up?

Many thanks in advance!!

I think forward facing generally is not thought to be comfy as it tends to mean baby is leaning away from the parent, rather than into, which puts pressure on the back. Also in a forward facing position baby is more likely to be dangling than supported properly (I don't know the catbird though so that may not be the case there).

I have an Ellaroo that I get on with quite well. I think I've got the new style (got mine cheap off eBay) but the headrest is very small and not rigid so I can't fold it. It's good but now I'm looking for a mei tai with some padding on at least the shoulders and possibly the waistband too. I'm being very indecisive but looking at Joey Slings and Baby Hawks at the mo.

hi there i got the ellaroo in the end, which i really like, but DS can't seem to fall asleep in it! i got the curved top style and there just doesn't seem to be enough support for his head. we had a baby bjorn and he would quite happily sleep in that. but the in the ellaroo, when DS gets sleepy he gets frustrated that he can't find a comfy position. how does your DC sleep in it?
