If you wear a sling what bag do you carry?

I want to carry DC2 (due any day now) in a sling more than I did with DD, but I was wondering what sort of bag you wear. I normally wear cross shoulder bags, but I guess I need some kind of backpack.

Anyone got any recommendations for anything nice, not too frumpy and not too ££££?

What sort of sling?
Baby on front in a wrap, backpack easiest but a shoulder bag is not impossible and as long as you don't make it too heavy actually a cross-over one can work quite well (that's what I use mostly), just wear it on top of your baby!
Baby on back, it all gets a bit tricker...

I struggle with this, i tend to use oversized handbag in hand, Use friends shopping basket if out with others or sometimes am guilty of having pram with me as well but defeats the object in some circumstances.

I used a waist bag from a walking shop. Like a backpack but only fastens around the waist like a big bum bag. That worked fine as long as you packed carefully.

TBH I am on DC3 and never found a good bag which could cope with sling wearing and fit my cloth nappies/potette in it.

Sigh, I know what I want I just can't find it, maybe it is time to get the sewing machine out.

Yeah, see the problem is now not what I have to carry for the baby (not sure why I needed so much first time round Hmm) but the crap I now need to carry for DD! Drink, snacks, change of clothes, emergency colouring kit, water for me, mummy purse (full of crap of course).

Have got a closer carrier to use. Not sure how much I will use it, but I intend to, especially with DD (3) around.

have bought an onbag. In theory I should be able to wear it on my back with DS in the sling. Im still trying to work this out! I agree though, its a hard to find a bag that works!

Hopefully, the onbag will be the one, we'll see....

When ds was little and on my front in the wrap sling I just used a normal backpack. Not a very smart option though. A cross the body bag could also work.

Oh, I thought you sling wearers would have a practical yet attractive solution all sorted Grin

How about a backpack for DD?

Bumperlicious · 18/09/2010 13:19

That's good plan, but I am still lost without a bag of my own Grin

Ah yes but if she carries her own stuff you are just down to a spare nappy, some wipes, purse, keys, tissues...(ish)
