Forward facing front carrier for 6 mth +?

Morning all...

So I've been using a Baby Bjorn Air to carry my DS (and have just read the stuff about them being bad for babies' posture so am feeling more than a little guilty now). We use our sling everyday as the arrangement of our house etc makes a pushchair quite impractical (steps, storage etc).

As DS is getting bigger I'm now looking for a new carrier which will see him through for the next year or so. He prefers to be facing out while carried on my front so if anyone can recommend a carrier where this is possible I'd be grateful. I'm not overly keen on having tons of fabric and would prefer something easy to fasten.

If we can't find one of those I guess I'd go for a back carrier but I'd be a bit nervous not being able to see what he's up to back there - is this something you just get used to?

Thanks in advance for any pointers... Smile

love my ergo.

dd is 8 months and about 10 kg. mostly I carry her on the front and sometimes on my back. she can see fine and is very happy. you can feel what they are up to.

Forward facing is not recommended in any carrier really. If you want DS to be able to see, hip carries are best; otherwise a nice high back carry.

Something like an Ergo or Rose & Rebellion sounds best for you.

Top stuff everyone thanks for the replies ans suggestions. I've never tried hip carries - do they not kill your back with an older baby?

Thanks for the links Loopy... will definitely try and get to a meet. I love the thought of the fabric doing what our arms would be doing - makes so much sense, so I get the front facing thing now... Smile.

I can do a hip carry in a ring sling for about an hour, my DD is 10mo / approx 19lbs - but it's a crap ring sling so don't know if that makes any difference.

I am comfy with a hip carry with a wrap or ring sling for 1-2 hours - but my DD is 4 YEARS old and 47lbs Grin
