Stretchy wrap for a beginner, Moby, Sa-be?

I'm already fed up of my BabyBjorn (sp??) and having looked at the different types available I think I'm after a stretchy wrap.

Can you recommend one? The ones I have come across are the Kari-me, the moby and the Sa-Be wraps. Are any of these any good?

I particularly interested in the Sa-Be one because it is so much cheaper than the others, has anyone had one?

how old is your baby?

ifyourmotheraskedyou · 25/07/2010 14:55

I loved my Moby - I wore it most of the time and just popped dd2 in and out. It was really comfortable and you can get some v pretty ones.

DD2 is 5 weeks, I think I would probably use the carrier up to about 8 or 9 months if thats any use.

I had a Moby and Hugabub, both were fantastic, but preferred the Moby

I wore ds until he was about 6 months

Have you thought about second hand ones if price is an issue?

foxytocin · 25/07/2010 17:47

If you don't mind a second hand one that is made at home but will be the quality of a Moby, there is one being advertised on UKBabywearingSwap at the moment. the seller wants £12.50

It is black.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping to buy it as a bit of a treat for me so would prefer a shiny new one really, with a nice pattern or design or something, I know that probably sounds weird!

I borrowed a sabe from a sling library when I was trying out slings. It is very similar to the moby which I now have - the only difference I found was that it was slightly shorted than the moby.

They do some fab colours in sa-be. I would have got one of these except for monetary reasons too long and complicated to go into!

I got a sa-be sling off ebay, loved it. Still use it now that DS is 8months and 30lbs (my poor back).
And easily washable too - big bonus!

puffylovett · 26/07/2010 16:25

I had a Moby and loved it.

The trouble is, once they start to get too heavy, it's all too easy to develop a serious addiction to woven wraps

I now have about 8

I have a moby - had it with DS2 but was too sceptical to use it. Used it for the first time yesterday with DS3 (2 weeks old) and I am so impressed! I have a bad back and the weight was so distributed I was fine I hated my baby bjorn, it gave me such back and shoulder ache which made me not want to try my moby.
