Is it best to use your syns and what are you using them for?

I used to think just avoid syns unless desperate and fill up on free food. It worked initially but now im going crazy with the pasta and Ive done a bit of reading that maybe that’s not the best way.

What have you used your syns for today?

So far Ive had two hifi bars (6), 2 veggie sausages (4) and I have had a cappuccino which has probably put me over now as more milk than my healthy a. Want to do better tomorrow.

Id love to hear what youve all had!

Yesterday - 1 syn on a turkey burger , served with air fryer chips, HM coleslaw ( fat free Skyr instead of mayo ) salad and grilled flat mushrooms

Earlier I had a massive bowl of the skyr ( free ) and berries and a HEB portion of muesli

Work on making a third of the plate speed , third protein and a third carb

If I keep the protein high and the carbs low I dont need to snack

Im maintaining so can have two HEA and HEB, but most days keep it to one.

I use my sins for things like Olive oil, Avocados, pure butter. These items might be high in fat which is why they're sins but they can be 'heath beneficial'. I would not use up sins to snack on chocolate etc, I just don't see a benefit in that.

I use my syns for things like a Yorkshire pudding on a roast , some coleslaw or mayo on a salad or sandwich
A rice cake with chocolate and an options hot chocolate of a night time
I rarely use 15 but always at least 5-10 syns as I don’t want to feel deprived .

I use syns to make my meals more interesting. So butter on corn on the cob or a burger bun if I make a burger. Today I've used 2.5 syns on pesto and 0.5 syn on chicken seasoning.

One lady in our group calculates how many syns there are in chocolate bars and biscuits and then works out how many she can have. I honestly find it easier to have no biscuits rather than one a day. I also really like the hi-fi bars so I have them as my healthy B if I'm craving something sweet.

We had a woman in our group who used all 15 syns on one bar of chocolate a day - all the power to her - it worked at the start when she had a lot to lose, but when she got to 7lb of her target , it stopped - and so did she - she wasnt prepared to make the change

I used to use my 'syns' on chocolate etc for treats but Ive changed since going on a pre diabetes course. I now eat more protein and less carbohydrate, even though my syns were mainly used on refined carbs, as we have eaten wholewheat pasta, brown rice etc for years. I now use my 'syns' on things like almonds, pumpkin seeds, hummous etc. It's really helping!

And you have totally embraced how SW works - use your syns to make your meals more satisfying for you

Hence come the new year we are moving from sins to SWIPS - or something - where nuts and oils are on the lists of foods you can choose from
