Hi all, I have decided to try to lose some weight using Slimming World. I joined a few years ago and lost 2 stone doing it. I don't really want to join up again, just hoping to try to do it myself at home. I have managed to get hold of a food optimising book so have most info. My problem now is, they don't list the syns for everything in there, such as sausages, etc. I understand I can't use the app or website checker if I am not a member. Is there anyone else who is doing SW and isn't a member, how do you manage to find the Syn values? I am anxious to get started, but feel a bit frustrated. Any help would be great.

Would joining online rather than in group work for you, otherwise it’s google and guess

Lots of FB groups, you can ask on them. Be warned they don't use the word syns as the group gets closed down, they use SV ( syn value) naughtiest, points etc instead. 1 syn is roughly 20 calories so not hard to work it out.

Facebook groups (just as pp said )

after I left SW, I just googled it. There are loads of pages out that that show the SW values of products.

also, as PP says, 1 syn is approx 20 cals, so if 100 cals, it is 5 syns

The 1 syn = 20 call equation only applies to foods that have no free food allowance such as biscuits/crisps/cakes/sweets etc The syn values of loads of other foods can't be calculated this way.
