I’ve been an online member since August last year, struggling really but keep telling myself I will get there. I’ve lost a few pounds and am just grateful at the moment I’m not gaining.

I can’t go to group (relative on cancer care treatments and we are shielding).
I did really well on SW eight years ago but that was before knowing my food allergies and avoiding those foods has transformed my life.

My very odd food allergies include red berries, spinach, tomatoes to name but a few. (Basically a lot of the SW basics).

today I listened to one of the SW podcasts which was interesting, I’m planning on listening to more for inspiration and motivation.

my biggest hurdle is I can be good all day and as soon as I’ve had my dinner I JUST WANT BISCUITS and CHOCOLATE. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

i was very tempted to cancel my membership this morning but I thought maybe this was a better idea and was hoping for an nice place to discuss other tips and tricks other SW members may have.

One Tip that I always found helpful from my previous group days was to take a wholemeal roll and weight it. Then having cut it in half pick out the middle until it was the right weight and then stuff if with lots of free foods.

Honestly, if that’s the kind of tip you get from groups I’d steer clear. It sounds like the kind of thing I used to talk to people about in the midst of an eating disorder.

I found it useful, and that answer was the sort of thing I wanted to avoid.

if you can’t be nice or helpful please scroll on by.

Is it your evening snacking you want help with @Ohforaslimmerme2024 ? Could you make up a plate or box of low syn food, including some chocolate, to enjoy in the evening?

Used to do snacking plates years ago but since reading about them not pushing yoghurts etc (which I don’t like anyway but did used to eat).

tbh im not sure what I’m looking for, was hoping someone may have picked up some ideas at group etc, I already have a bowl of fruits I can eat about an hour after my meal, but that’s getting boring as it’s really limited, I can’t eat much packet stuff because I’m really sensitive to so much random stuff and then my tongue swells and becomes really sore. Basically I react to lots of natural foods. Bizarrely Cadbury chocolate is one of the few things I don’t react to.

wondering if I need to do some sort of podcast on how to kick eating chocolate and the biscuits I can eat. I’m really good all day and the poof come the evening I just can’t behave.

I always want something sweet after my meal so I have plain soya yoghurt, frozen blueberries and a squirt of Sweet Freedom chocolate shot, I like it as there's no artificial sweetener in it and it feels like I've had a big pudding.

I've lost 3.5 stone doing it on line and to be honest I don't want tips like weighing bread rolls and pulling the insides out so I avoid groups, that sounds like the road to disordered eating. I just try and stick to 3 meals a day, lots of fruit and veg and salad and un processed foods. Keep going, good luck!

What do you mean by not pushing yoghurts?

Why don't you have chocolate everyday if that's what you want? I know people who do,personally I can't as I'm all or nothing. Use your syns for the evenings.

Have you tried drizzling some sweet freedom choc shot on your fruit? I find it gives me that chocolate kick without using loads of syns. It’s 0.5 for a teaspoon, or 2 for a tablespoon .

SW dont push any foods, you do it your way, if you want chocolate. you have chocolate, woman sits beside me in group has a bar every day - all 15 syns on a bar of chocolate. Only like me she only eats free and speed foods at all other times

Up till doing dry January I used my syns on alcohol, I too eat speed and free foods through out the day

Im 2 stone down

I eat a lot of yoghurt and I would never sit and pick the inners from a bread roll. Why would you? 2 slices of Nevilles ( Tesco cheap brand ) wholemeal is counted as a health extraB - so not a syn in sight and if I dont want sliced bread, I can have a huge big wholemeal pitta which has a HUGE pocket to stuff

If you heard that in a group, that was from a member, not endorsed by SW

What I would do in your shoes, I would admit to myself I want chocolate - simple. Then work out what foods you can actually eat from the free and speed lists and build your menu around those. So you might not want to use all 15 syns on chocolate - 25gr of CDM is 7 syns - leaves you 8 syns to use with your free and speed to make food a bit more interesting and open up more choices

Thats how it worked for me. A glass of wine is 7 syns, one glass isnt going to touch the sides, the wine went. A measure of whisky ( here they are 35mls ) is 4 syns , I knew I was going to have at least 3 in the evening so I had no syns for food. Which was fine, I ate well, I lost weight

There is absolutely no point whatsoever in denying what it is you want. Just work it into YOUR plan
