Yes - I lost 5 stone after my 2nd DC was born. I joined in January (many years ago now) and had lost just short of 5 stone by the same October. I was very focused though and followed the plan properly as well as exercising.

It's not really a diet but more of a healthy eating plan - it doesn't actually tell you anything you don't know, however I needed something like that to keep me focused.

I kept the weight off for a number of years however during lockdown last year, I'm now 2 stone heavier than I want to be, so have rejoined.

Good luck! You will do really well if you're in the right headspace for it.

After my youngest was born I lost found and a half stone in 9 months. I was surprised at how quickly I managed to lose the weight and how good I felt about myself long before I hit my target. I kept the weight off really easily by going to meetings regularly. However I also gained about 2 stone in lockdown and rejoined again this year. I’ve lost almost all of the weight again after starting in May.

I'm a slow loser so only lost 2 stone in the last year using the principles of Slimming World can't afford the meetings

The good thing about SW is that it can help you retrain how you see food. Hopefully you'll have a good consultant, the less good ones get you excited about the 'free food' and fill up on that as an option - don't! If having pasta etc measure out a portion according to the packet recommendations rather than just "that'll fill me up". Try and make the majority of what you eat (including snacks) speed foods, that's where the power of SW lies because the speed foods are almost universally good things to have at the centre of any diet.

Best of luck, if you stick to the plan specifically the as much speed food as possible part you'll do well.

And you definitely won't be the only person with more than a couple of lbs to lose so don't let that put you off going.

I've just joined SW, I need to lose 5 stone also, 7 weeks in and am 16 lbs down but still a long way to go. Once you get your head round it you'll be fine. It's a nice diet in as much as there is so much free food and you get healthy extras plus syns so you won't really feel deprived. In fact I feel like I eat more than I used to, it's just better food. Like the above poster says, load up on speed foods as that will really help.

Good luck you can and will do this.

Don't be nervous about going. There won't be any judgement. Only the weigh lady will know what you weigh. Make sure you stay to the talk after (image therapy it's called). You'll find there will be several people in same boat as you. It's helpful hearing from others as to what they cook, how they meal plan etc.
Enjoy and good luck.

PepsiHoover · 06/09/2021 15:50

You will be fine.

Just get your poker face ready for when they wheel out the quark recipe sheet.

vickylou78 · 06/09/2021 16:17

I agree Quark recipe's aren't often good!! Yikes. But there are some fantastic recipes for lovely meals. You'll enjoy the new good I'm sure.

Good luck!

I actually like quark with chopped pineapple, passion fruit and berries!

I'm in the middle of 5 stone goal, break it down. Don't look at it as 5 stone, work in half stone increments. Your first goal is to lose 7lb, when you hit that your next goal is to get to 1 stone gone.

Bluesheep8 · 13/09/2021 18:43

Have you been yet op? How did it go?

Lifeispassingby · 14/09/2021 23:45

Hallowbat · 13/10/2021 22:36
