Hello
I m thinking of trying slimming world.
I have a stone to loose. I'm currently active but could you my game a bit.
I know I need to loose the weight I m trying tot figure out how to loose it wel. I tried Joe wicks body coach in the past but I didn't really loose much and found it so overwhelming with all the food prep for me alone and the kids and dh having different meals .
Is slimming world like that - will I have lots of prep for myself and the dh and kids eating different meals/ are there family meal
Options ?
I feel my portion size and my snacking are out of Control as wel as having too much wine at weekends. That s pretty sugary right?
So I know the changes I neee to make but I need a plan or guide to stick to.

Apologies i m rambling,
I d love help tips experiences shared please ? I don't want to pay out for another unsustainable plan.

Hi well in basic terms syns are how food calories are ‘grouped’. Generally we are allowed to have 15 syns per day. Syns are to be used if making , heavy/creamy sauces, having treats eg crisps, chocolate, takeaways, things like that. Most meals can be made in a low syn or syn free way by eliminating these higher fat/calorie items from the cooking forces and opting for alternatives. There are many to choose from eg using something like natural yoghurt to cream a curry or something like that. Any meal however should have one third of veg on your plate. All or most fruit and veg are completely syn free so full up more on these if you can. That’ll leave you with more syns to enjoy if you fancy a treat of some kind.
Also, you can have 2 x healthy extra A’s each day which are your dairy options. Check out exactly how much milk/cheese you can have.
Also you get 1 healthy extra B per day which is your bread, grains, oats, cereal.

Hope this helps. Good luck x

Hi @scatteredglitter, just seen your thread and wondered how you have found the first couple days? Here to help if you need any guidance, tip or a moan haha! I lost 3.5 stone in 32 weeks last year on SW and really enjoyed it and now feel great.

I love slimming world and will be getting back on it once I've recovered from having a baby. Good luck! The best thing is you can still have wine/chocolate and crisps and still loose weight

It's good for family meals imo. This is a big part of why it works for me, we can all eat the same, no 'mum's on a diet' stuff.

You can make pasta meals, spag bol, chilli, curries, roasts etc with a few tweaks. If you use a few syns on stuff like coconut milk, stir fry sauces you open up the choices.

Sone meals I tweak a bit, so if we have fajitas I'll have the same but with lettuce leaves instead of wraps. Or I'll have burger and chips but have the burger on a salad instead of a bun. My kids just think I don't like bread!

Getting the current magazine abd following the 7 day kickstart plan is a great way to get started without too much thought
