Why am I not losing weight?

Been on SW for 6 weeks. Apart from 5 days spread throughout this 6 weeks (family events) I’ve stuck to the plan like glue. I’ve been watching my portion sizes and trying to load up my plate with speed food. I’m trying not to eat too much pasta, rice etc. Average around 8 syns a day (some days only have a few, some days the full 15). I do tend to save my syns for a bit of chocolate or a G@T rather than having syns in my meals. Is this where I’m going wrong? I’ve lost 5lb in 6 weeks. It’s so depressing.

Typical day

Breakfast: boiled eggs on whole meal (heb)
Apple
2xTea (hea)

Lunch
Vegetable cous cous
Coffee (hea)

Dinner
Chicken curry
SW chips
Salad

Chocolate (5)
Yogurt with strawberries and honey (1)

Total syns = 6

Do I need to cut carbs completely? I feel like that will make it a hard diet to follow. I have 2st 1lb to target of 9st (I’m 5ft3).

cherry can I ask what you would say the best muscle building exercise is? I'm only a stone or so overweight, but my body fat and waist/hip ratio are both in the danger zone so I clearly have too much visceral fat which is obviously not ideal!

I think Slimming World is a terrible diet, but I appreciate it does and should work for the short term. You don't seem to be eating much at all, maybe add healthy snacks inbetween meals, hopefully will fill you up more so you don't turn to the sugar hits in the evening?

Readysetcake - are you on any medication at all? this can affect your weight loss, the tablets I have to take promote weight gain, and although I am losing weight, it is coming off very slowly due to meds.

Unless you list every single ingredient that you've used to make your meals, and exact weights/quantities, we can't tell if you're maybe having too many syns or going over on your healthy extras.

Rather than the standard 1/3 speed with every meal, go for 1/2 of your plate/bowl to be speed food

Don't just start ADDING speed to meals you need to be REPLACING parts of the meal with speed. When you're adding all you're doing is adding extra calories (and calories in v out is the basic principle of weight loss, no matter what you're doing). So, instead of adding veg to your cous cous, take away some of the cous cous and add veg.

Are you tracking your measurements?

I think it depends on how much you've cheated on your days off as well. It's really difficult but realistically you've only stuck to the plan one week. If you've pigged out on the days off you've probably undone all your good work throughout the week.

It really is shockingly easy to eat all your syns for the week in one cheat day-I managed to eat 105 syns one weekend and I didn't even properly pig out! That was the only time I decided to track it! I'd done it loads of times before without bothering counting it as I was having a day off a week and still losing-until I wasn't. A white bap with your burger, a slice of cake, an ice cream here and there and you've eaten a week's worth of syns! Also yes more speed less carbs!

You've been having roughly one day off a week and still lost weight ? I think you're doing great if you want to lose more find a way to make family events plan friendly not an excuse to have a day or evening off. I lose more weight when I use my Syns and less when I go low syn too

I did low carb this year starting in Jan. I lost 10lbs in the first 2 weeks! I’ve now lost 2 stones and kept it off. I was part of the Lowcarb boot camp on here which was hugely helpful and supportive. Please have a look at it and think about doing it. It really works!

Low carb is the only way for me and even then I’m a slow loser
I only eat my healthy b a couple of times a week but that’s ok because I eat so much fibre filled speed food
I can’t eat gluten and don’t really enjoy rice or potatoes so low carb naturally
I’m a slow loser because I don’t drink enough fluids and save all my syns for alcohol!

jace I use my Hexb on almonds when Im doing and SP day, which I do most days. My best laid plans today came to nothing as I defrosted what I thought was soup, but it was mushy pea curry sauce, so I have to have some leftover pasta salad for lunch!
My WI is tonight, so Ill see how I get on!
