I've been doing Slimming World for about 4 weeks now. I just wanted to check what others have been told by their consultant, and what they generally do about having cereal and a sandwich on the same day. My consultant told me that I'm not allowed cereal and a sandwich on the same day.

Prior to starting at my group, I did the online version for about 6 months and it didn't really work as some weeks I'd stick to it, and other weeks I didn't, so I didn't lose that much weight given that I'd done it for that long. However, on the weeks that went well and I did stick to it, I'd have a bowl of HEB cereal for breakfast and I would use my syns for a sandwich and Walkers French Fries for lunch. On the days I did have a sandwich, I would make sure I had a syn free dinner. If I wanted to use syns for snacks and dinner, I'd have a syn free lunch and not have a sandwich on those days. I've joined the group as I think going to be weighed there will help me stick to it for longer. I like having cereal for breakfast and a sandwich too every now and then!

I just wanted to see what you all do!

TIA Smile

I grudge the syns for extra HEB.

But I found when I would have an alpen light bar or hifi bar as syns that my weight often maintained. When you get to target, extra healthy extras are recommended.

I occasionally do use a different HEB as syns but try to keep it lower than 4.

I don't have cereal a lot. I tend to use my oats for baked oats or for waffles. I do change my HE's daily, so one day is oats, another day is Ryvita fruit crunch, another day may be all bran.

If I don't have cereal, then I find a fruit Omelette fills me up.

I think it's okay if it definitely stays within your allowances but very easy to go above. Do you measure your cereal and milk? It's surprising how little you get.

Remember to include syns for any filling too e.g. Butter

monkeytoad35 · 14/08/2017 10:33

Yes I measure my cereal and milk. I know what you mean Skeleton, 40g of cereal is hardly anything 😮

What different things do you have for lunch if you've used your HEB for cereals/oats in the morning?

I work in a school 3 days a week so it's a lot easier and quicker to just take a sandwich, and also quicker and easier to have a bowl of cereal on those days too. Hmm

I work in a school too! For lunch - jacket and beans with salad, just loads of 'bits' like ham babybells veg sticks and fruit, yoghurt and fruit. Sometimes I split it and do one slice of bread with beans on for lunch and then half my allowance of alone with yoghurt and fruit for breakfast. Grilled chicken with salady bits is nice too.

I'm in nursery with a very quick 30 minutes. I do soup, eggy muffins with salad, cous cous with roasted veg, ham or beef salad. Usually have a yoghurt and some fruit too.

Hoping to do rice salad or pasta salad once I get back this term (still off sick post surgery).

These are good lunch suggestions thanks. I think I'll try some of those. Were you told you couldn't have cereal and a sandwich on the same day then?

Haven't been told that but would find it difficult syns wise

Groovee · 14/08/2017 15:57

I did SW in 2005 when you got 2 HEB's and my losses were much slower. But they've definitely got better on extra easy plan with only one. I just grudge spending so many syns on bread 😂

OwlinaTree · 14/08/2017 22:45

I find bread really bloats me now, so I just avoid it. I take a salad to work with some type of meat, eggs etc.

Gorgosparta · 15/08/2017 13:23

You cant have ceral and bread without using syns for one of them. Mayne thats what she meant.

If the SP plan you can have 2 HEB though. Would that be something you could do?

monkeytoad35 · 15/08/2017 16:38

I could certainly give it a go. I can't seem to find much information about the sp plan. What is it?

It should be in your book. You can only eat speed foods and Pritein foods so no rice, pasta, potatoes, bananas, yoghurts etc.

Gorgosparta · 16/08/2017 06:33

Groovee summed it up well.

monkeytoad35 · 17/08/2017 08:17

Oh yes so it is! Thanks. Smile
