6lb weight gain after one night out- feeling demoralised!

So I've been secretly stalking this board and FB slimming world boards and had managed a 12lb loss in 4 weeks! I have been feeling lighter and that has motivated me to stick to it.
I had a night out on Saturday which involved a bottle of white wine and a bottle of prosecco (and a sore head!) but stuck to the food and cooked a lean in 15 recipe for guests so I didn't stray...and I put on 6lb!!! I'm absolutely gutted! This was on Saturday night and the weight gain is down to 4lb today but I'm feeling really demoralised!
Could it be water weight? Why is it so hard to lose but so easy to gain? It was the first time I've drank in 4 weeks.
I even went for a run/waddle yesterday and I'm trying to stick to the plan but I've found myself picking at the Children's food today and last night which I had totally stopped doing! I think I'm losing resolve and about to crumble into a binge fest!
Some words of wisdom would be much appreciated as this along with half term is about to tip me into a bucket filled with white wine Blush

First thing first, where are you in your monthly cycle? I tend to gain around the time I'm due on, so could this be part of it?

Anyway, you need to forget it and move on. Don't sabotage yourself now! Get back on the plan and you'll lose it again.

Sadly I've just finished so not due on (I'd already desperately clutched at that straw!) it's just soul destroying that I'd finally seen the lowest weight for 2 years and then it got 6 whopping lbs added to it! One night to put on, 2 weeks to lose!
I'm going to drink my body weight in water (not literally!) and attempt another jog/waddle tonight in the hope it spurs me on. I do not want another summer sweltering in a cardigan and leggings! Thank you Flowers

Don't worry, alcohol always makes you gain loads of fluid for a few days afterwards, then suddenly a week later you will wee it all out. I think it's the kidneys protecting themselves, but it happens to me after a heavy night.

6lb is the equivalent of a big poo and a couple of pints of water.

Emma is absolutely correct re: your cycle, it can make you retain loads of water.

Other things that make you retain water include caffeine and too much salt. Of course, some salt is necessary for life, but if you had some salty food at the party and then a coffee the next morning...

Don't let it get you down.

Although the running is good, I would focus more on sticking to the SW plan. I've been doing couch to 5k for around 5 weeks now and it hasn't made much difference to my weight loss. I think I'm only burning something like 400 calories in each run!

Thanks for the hope! I'm going to persevere, I have to! This has been my first set back and I can't give up now. Seeing the scales going down is such a euphoric feeling!

The running is purely to get fitter for life in general, I've two children and was finding I'd got lazy and sloth like. I want to be able to chase after them and be more active so that is just an extra as well as SW, I'm not eating any extra. Plus yesterday it kept me on the straight and narrow as my DD came with me and it was nice to do something without her brother.
I can do this! Just got to stay motivated and erm pretend I'm not going to Manchester this weekend to see Coldplay Grin which may or may not involve cocktails! Goddamn!

Can anyone tell me how much the slimming world food directory 2016 costs if you buy direct from SW?
I'm not currently a member (used to be a few years ago) so have all the basic books and I'd like to follow the plan on my own. However, the Food Directorys I've seen on Amazon are selling for well over £20...I'm sure they are not normally that expensive?
Unfortunately as I'm not a member I can't buy the directory from SW.

Oh, I apologise for hijacking the thread with my question, I thought I was starting a new thread. Very sorry-not used to using Mumsnet on my phone.
