Questions about trying SW

I want to lose 2 stone and have read a lot of good things about SW.
My problem is that I don't want to get weighed every week, I would rather go by how my clothes feel and fit, I also don't really want to have to sit in a group and talk about what I have or have not lost.
I suppose what I am asking is can I go to a meeting just the once with my voucher for free membership and purchase all the recipe books etc and then just do the diet at home?

Will then even let me purchase the books on the first visit?
Thanks

Yes you can do that, you could probably get some on eBay too....

But...(there's always a but) it can usually take a couple if weeks to figure put how it works properly & that's where group is a life saver. I would suggest going for the first 3 weeks at least, until you're sure you've got it down

Good luck Smile

Thanks, I will go for at least 3 weeks and see.

Once you have the hang of it you dont have to stay for group. I go and get weighed each week cos it helps me stay on track but I doubt my consultant even remembers my name, she certainly hasnt spoken to me for months

Well I went. Have to say it was not my cup of tea.
The leader was very nice but it was very busy with lots of toddlers running around and I felt very uncomfortable during the meeting part, really didn't like the cheers and clapping all the time.
I did go to buy some recipe books but had to order them so will have to go back next week again to collect them.
I asked not to be told my weight but when I got home I did decide to have a look as I wanted to compare to what my GP weighed me at 48 hrs before. According to SW I have gained 7lb in 2 days.

Youve either had a VERY nice two days or someones scales are wrong! Theres only reluctant clapping at mine and no cheering, nobody is particuarly friendly. I only go cos I wont stay on track otherwise im not even really sticking to the diet. The diet does work if you stick to it though, so good luck!

I only wish I did have a couple of very god days, I do believe the GP's scales more.

Slimming world scales should be very accurate.

I would pop into boots and weigh yourself for 50p and see if it comes up the same as the GP scales or slimming worlds.

PhoebeMcPeePee · 20/09/2014 19:55

Why not just find some scales at boots or your local leisure centre, decide a set day/time to weigh yourself each week and join online? Try not to focus on whether the gp or SW scales are true but the weight you are going to lose - you can always book in to your gp in a few months & ask to be re-weighed if you want to go by theirs. It doesn't sound like the group will work for you but it's the same diet online & plenty of people do very well with a more anonymous support network. Use ebay for books if you want them although I find the website & magazines the best resource for recipes.

Thank you all, I will follow your suggestions

Hi, I started at the beginning of July and 9 weeks later I have lost 2 stone. I go to get weighed every week at Slimming World but do not stay at group every week. So if you can stay at group once in a while and get some ideas it really helps to keep you on track. They will never say how much you put on but will praise how much you have lost which is an amazing feeling and makes you feel so much better! I would defiantly recommend Grin x
