I moved DS in to a bed when I was 22 weeks pregnant with DC2 as he's a big boy and I couldn't lift him over the cot bars to put him to bed (DH not always around at bedtime to help). He seemed really happy with the change and loves being in there for story time before bed and quite happily says good night to us when we walk out the room after lights out (in fact he's recently been telling us to get out of the room and close the door!)
When he's going to sleep we can hear light banging from his room (not like he's trying to get out the door or anything, just a hard tapping) and I think it could be him either banging his foot or head as he's always been a fidgety baby and I remember watching him banging his foot on the cot when he was younger and going to sleep. I don't want to go and check on him as he's not crying and we've had some terrible issues with getting him to sleep in the past and if we give him attention when he's going to sleep, things tend to escalate in to 2 hour attention seeking marathons.
Anyway, when I go and check on him before I go to bed, he's recently been asleep on the floor next to the door with his pillow, teddy and blankie comfort thing. I move him in to his bed and he usually sleeps through the night but last night he woke up at 1am and said 'I'm in bed, I want to get out' I gave him some milk and a cuddle and said that he had to sleep in bed and walked out the room. I could hear him grizzling but nothing major and when I went to get him in the morning, he was once again on the floor by the door.
I feel awful that he's sleeping on the floor as I've had to do this many times when we were having sleep issues with DS and it's not very comfortable! Like I said, he doesn't cry or shout about getting out of the room, he just seems to like sleeping there.
Has anyone else had any experience of this?
