My 5 month old has just started to self settle to sleep and it has been a long hard road! So I am really pleased-she manages 4 hour stretches now which is great.
She does however always sleep on her tummy.I think that is one of the reasons she now sleeps better.I always put her down on her back but she rolls over instantly. She does the same when playing too.She has managed to roll back a couple of times but not much. The first few nights I was turning her back every 1/2 hour. Now I leave her to it.
I was thinking of getting one of those movement monitor mats but I think that would make me worry more.
I guess I am looking for reassurance!

hello - I posted about this very thing yesterday I think and somebody passed on this sage advice from FSID ...

If your baby is less than six months old and you find him sleeping on his tummy, gently turn him onto his back. Don?t feel you need to keep getting up all night to check on this. Whatever your baby?s age, always place him to sleep on his back.

I've decided not to sweat it now my DD is 5 months and pretty big&burly. we all (probably) slept on our tummies etc etc - plus, I agree, those mats would stress me out way too much.

well done on the self-settling - we too have been travelling that loooong old road
