Stopping co-sleeping

Hi everyone, i've tried to search for advice on this but not found anything.

My DS, now 18mo, has been co-sleeping with us since he was 9mo. It wasn't a concious decision but out of desperation when he started another phase of waking every hour and i simply couldn't function normally during the day. He still wakes and cries during the night but much less if in bed with me, maybe 4 hours if i'm lucky. Clearly he has never slept through the night!!!

However we're about to move so he will get his own room finally and i'd like to think about having another baby (am i mad ). I don't want him to associate not sleeping with us a being due to a new baby so wondering how others coped with this situation?

Any advice gratefully received

Hi,
we put the child bed in our room to start with and bought "special" duvet covers that he liked and he immediately asked to sleep in his new bed and slept through the night!

Of course when the new baby arrived he was so jealous and immediately decamped back to our bed, but we're working on that .
