How many hours in 24 'should' a one year old sleep?

Can anyone tell me what the standard (lol) is, or how much I should be aiming to get DS to sleep.

After keeping a diary of his broken and patchy sleep for the past few days and he's consistantly sleeping a total 11 1/2 - 11 3/4 hours in 24. That seems like waaaaaay to little to me, surely he needs more to grow and develop properly? Or am I fretting needlessly.

I think that DD must have had about 15 out of 24 at this age, but maybe she was the odd one?

I think between 12-14 would be what they 'should' have.

Ds (now 3) has never had that much, not one day, ever .

He usually on a good day averaged about 11hrs at that age and is doing fine.

12 hours, maybe 14?

i think if they like to muck about abit in bed after waking up/ before sleep its no bad thing though..i don't know how much actual sleep DS gets because he seems to spend a while winding down every night...

Ah, OK, so it's not dramatically insufficient. Thanks!

I think that it's because it's so broken that I was worrying, he never sleeps for more than 3 hours at a stretch...

I would say 14

Id say about 14-15ish.

My Ds2 is 21 months and sleeps 11-12 hours at night (hasn't always been this way!) and still has a 2 hour nap in the day.

At a year he was still having 2 naps.

I remember reading ages ago 12 hours and my DS had that but in about 3x1 hr naps and 9 hrs at night.
Only an average I expect tho my DD prob didn't have this in a week.
