Where can I get a higher sided cot?

DS2 is 15 months and tall. He is very active and has almost climbed out of his cotbed. I don't think he would settle on a mattress on the floor (he's not a good sleeper) and his room has an old fireplace in that he could easily hurt himself on.

Where can I get a higher than average sided cot? I've spent ages on Google but haven't had any luck. Any ideas appreciated.

Is he in a sleeping bag? sometimes that slows them down!

Was in one but sleeps terribly as it seems to stop him rolling onto his front where he is most comfortable. Sleep is very precious w this one so i'd rather buy a new cot than put him back in the bag!

Not sure what I think about these but you can get a product called a 'crib tent' which goes ovet the top of the cot.

I'll have a look, thanks.

I had this problem with my DD she was 27 inches when she was born. DH managed to make adjustments to the cot and lower the part she slept on.

At 15 months my DS was in a regular bed.... can you block off/pad teh fireplace at all? Put a duvet on it or those foam tube things you insulate pipes with?

You can get sticky foam things from kiddicare to put on sharp edges (they're on our fireplace still, as the edges are uber sharp)

Is there a possibiliy of swapping rooms so you have the fireplace (assuming you don't have one in your room)

jollyma · 24/06/2010 21:52

There's a fireplace in every room so room swapping not possible. I did have an idea today, i could put him in a toddler bed in the middle of the room and surround it with a large playpen, i've got one of those hexagonal baby dan ones and you can put more than one together to make a bigger one.

I'd put the pen around the fireplace tbh, he'll prob just try to climb the babydan

Too true. Not as far to fall compared to the cot though!
