Sleep Schedule

Does anyone have any guidance for a sleep schedule 5 month old - i.e. ideal bed time and nap time. Would like to have some sort of structure to the day as without it, DD does not follow any pattern and becomes haphazard. Do Gina Ford or Sophie Hogg have example routines?
Thanks.

Ps Have consulted with a Cognitive behavioral therapist in London and have tried adopting a graded hierarchy to get baby to sleep in cot to good result. Next step is to instil some routine.

Hi Shezi

I found the Baby Whisperer really good and follow it roughly still (ds is 7mo) - here's a blog that explains it quite well.

I found that ds actually does better with a really early bedtime and now he goes down at 6.30 (and wakes at 7am)

This is a really helpful site on sleep too.

Good luck!

My DS is 5 months old and can rarely stay awake for much more than 2 hours without getting overtired. You could try using this as a guideline and watch for tired signs.

Many babies sleep longest and best with a bedtime between 6 and 8pm - but all babies are different, both in what suits them at night and during the day. My DS goes to bed at 6.30 or 7pm, but usually wakes between 5 and 5.30 no matter what time bedtime was.
