Sleep and colds

Help needed. My DS of 6 months has just got his first cold and as a result is sleeping really badly. He also wouldn't take his bottle tonight as he was so choked up he just kept gagging and then crying. I'm a first time mum so I'm looking for any advice on things I should and shouldn't do.

here it is. THere's some advice on here. Not sure that anything really worked though - the chest rub helped a bit but I think it just came down to riding it out until she got over the worst of it a few days later. I just ended up feeding every couple of hours. Sorry that doesn't help much but you have my sympathies.

Have you given any Calpol yet? Definately worth a go - it has a mild sedative in it so if nothing else should help with sleep.

Thankyou Magscat. Great thread with lots of good advice. Here's to the long night ahead....good to know you've been through it too though, it is a worry when it affects the food. I swear between making sure he sleeps and eats, I'll have an ulcer by the time he goes to school!!

Hello, much better he slept through from 7 till his usual 7.15. Propped up his mattress with pillows. Filled his little teddy bear with lavender drops and never heard from him again. Think the sleep thing was actually a result of something else. He has really dry skin and the health visitor gave me some stuff which he was extremely allergic too. Turns out it was burning his skin when I put it on just before bedtime and I had no idea.......stopped using it a couple of days ago. So hopefully the combination has got his sleep back to normal. Many thanks for your help and support though.
