napping and snacking and napping and snacking and ...

Aargh! DD is 13 weeks and, though she usually sleeps ok overnight, she spends every morning just napping and snacking - she'll have a five minute feed then nap for 15 mins, then wake up crying, have another quick feed then another 15 min nap and on and on - she's been doing this since 7am this morning with no real 'awake' times at all. She usually ends up by mid-afternoon screaming with tiredness because she hasn't had any proper sleeps at all.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience of this or has any suggestions on how to get her out of this routine?

You'd think I'd have a clue what I was doing by now as she is DC2, but all the things that worked for DS (dummy, sling, fresh air, drives in the car) seem to make no difference.

my dd is just the same (and won't nap).
She often starts at 4am and then naps and snacks til 10am!! But as I only have the one I am fine with it and doze with her but I guess with two is much harder! But if we need to be somewhere, as soon as she naps I get up and express the rest of her feed and when she next wakes get her up and give her the bottle as she doesnt fall asleep on the bottle nearly as much as on the boob- then once she has had her big feed, play with her for a bit til it is time to try and fail to get her to nap again!

Mine also does this though his napping and snacking occurs between about 3/4am and 7am. Pretty much every night. Joy. Trying to refuse him boob when he wakes unless I know he's really hungry but so hard in the middle of the night, so I'm failing miserably. Will watch this thread carefully for suggestions!.

(Thandeka - I think we have the same model of baby. Non napping, very early morning snacking...)

Hi Thandeka and Suchanamateur, thanks for your replies - it's good to know I'm not alone!

Yes I've tried refusing her the boob too to no avail, seems like she really is hungry.

I might try the idea of expressing to see if she takes a full feed in a bottle, I'd not thought of that. At the moment I'd do anything to get her to have a full hour's nap so I can play with DS properly, or even just get stuff done around the house!

She's still up at the moment btw. Humph.
