When did your DC give up the third nap?

Just curious really - DS is 7mo and has 3 naps; roughly 9-10.30ish, 1-2.30 and 4-4.45

He's been a bit difficult to get to sleep at bedtime (6.30/7pm) and I'm not sure if it's the heat or if he doesn't need the last nap....but he can't really make it to bedtime without it yet..

My DD still has 3 naps and is 9 months - so very interested in this too

By about 8 months for my DS and 6/7 months for my DD they had dropped to two naps a day (late morning, late afternoon), and both followed similar patterns, eventually by their first birthdays just having one longer nap after lunch.

My 6 month DS will generally have 2/3 sleeps a day depending on length. Generally the ideal for him seems to be an hour nap in the morning 9 - 10 and 2 hours from about 12.20 - 2.30. If he has a shorter nap at lunchtime - will need a short nap around 4.30 - 5pm. I think generally around this age they should be having no more than 3 hours napping per day as otherwise it v=can interfere with there night sleep. Perhaps try reducing the last nap to only 30 mins or extending the lunchtime sleep to 2 hours and missing the last nap? I read on another thread about the 2,3,4 sleep day time pattern.

Thanks everyone - blue, how long are DD's naps?

Cadders I heard about the 2,3,4 thing too but DS can't quite stay up that long yet. I'd love to extend the lunchtime nap but he rarely has longer than 90min, usually just over an hour.

Bafana - how late in the afternoon, can you remember?

Sorry for the interrogation!

My 8 month old DD has just dropped her late afternoon nap, she now sleeps from 9.30 until 10.15/11 am and 1 until 2/2.30 she goes to bed at 6.30 and sleeps until 5.30.
