i think even if you put them on there back they will still roll on side

blossom2 · 03/08/2005 13:06

my 4 week old does the same. i figured sleeping on their sides isn't so bad since they can't roll onto their front yet. you can also roll them onto their backs once they are in a deep sleep.

thanks - good to know i'm not doing a terrible thing!

ah, this reminds me of my ds who used to always sleep on his side in a swaddles. Had to be the same side too! He grew out of it around 4 months I think...

Now a strapping 2 year old curently asleep in his cot with Thomas the tank engine, Pat's van, a digger, Mrs Goggins, a video box and a book.

Enjoy!!

Both of mine slept much better on their fronts, so much so that I put dd on her front from the day we came home from the hospital. In the hospital I put her on her side, just in case anyone made a fuss - which nobody did.

IMO, if you are low on all the risk factors for SIDS then I don't see why you should try and force the baby to sleep on their back if they can't. As blossom2 said, you can always roll them over once they are asleep.

do you use grobags??

TracyK · 03/08/2005 15:22

just watch the side of their head they sleep on - my ds did this and had a flat bit on one side till i tried to vary his sides.

Tessiebear · 03/08/2005 15:28

My DS3 (3 weeks old) also sleeps on his side - even if i put him down on his back. Dont think they could roll onto their front even if they wanted to!!!

Janbo25 - have bought a grobag today as he always pulls his arms out of the swaddle anyway!
