Early waking one year old

Does anyone have any ideas for how to encourage my one year old not to wake up for the day at 5:30am?

We've tried bringing her into bed with us (no you, thinks it's play/milk time).

Level and timing of daytime sleep seems to make no difference.

Going to bed later makes no difference.

She has blackout lining to her curtains.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm going spare!

I think this is the one thing there is pretty much no cure for!

I'm up now after years of being got up early by kids - who finally (aged 6, 8, 10) sleep in till about 7.

Like you, nothing seemed to make a difference. I just went ot bed early myself!

Sigh. Please don't say that! I'm already going to bed at 10:15. Not sure I can do that for the next 10 years...

That was a tired typo by the way, it should have said "no good, thinks it's play/milk time" in the OP.

10.15 ... you late raver! I'm often in bed by 9.30 these days.

Up early though.

But I can hear ds and dd2 (the younger 2) playing in their bedroom already, at 10 to 7 and there's not even any school today!!!)

I can't go to bed at 9:30. Oh god, I just can't. It's 8pm by the time DD is bed, by the time we've eaten (on days I work and don't have tea with her) and tidied up, it's 9pm. I'm not sufficiently wound down from the day by 9:30 - and it's the only 'us' time DH and I get.

Oh god, I'm going to spend the next 10 years exhausted...

REPEAT AFTER ME: it's just a phase. Stop getting worked up about the next ten years! Go to be at 9.30 tonight only. you'll feel more human soon, promise.

It's a phase, It's a phase,It's a phase,It's a phase,It's a phase,It's a phase,It's a phase,It's a phase, etc

Oh, I know, I know. Thanks. That was said a bit tongue in cheek - don't worry, I'm not sobbing in a corner.

I just hoped someone would come on and say "ooh, well I tried". I like a bit of hope, even if it's false hope!
