Short lunchtime nap

DS2 is 12 months old and just will not have a decent lunchtime nap. He will only have 45 minutes. I have cut out the morning nap to see if that makes a difference but it's still the same, after exactly 45 minutes he's awake.

The trouble is he has a lunchtime nap at 12.30pm then he has to go through from when he wakes up at 1.15pm until 7pm at bedtime. This means it's too long without sleep and he's grumpy in the afternoon from 4pm onwards as really he needs another nap. But if I give him another one then he tends to wake earlier in the morning.

I'm stuck as to what to do as DS1 always had at least two hours at lunchtime.

I would have thought he would have grown out of the waking after 45 minute sleep cycle thing by now but it's still in full effect.

Anyone out there have the same problem?

Yes, with 6 month old DD2. No idea what to do and wish she would nap more as I need to work!
