cotrolled crying vs pick up put down

so, since the birth of my dd we have been co-sleeping

15months later and the lack of sleep is starting to catch up..and she has also become quite grizzerly!!

Iv started putting her down in her cot but she can wake anywere between 1 and 15 times over the 4 hours before i go to bed and end up taking her with me. Then once in my bed, will feed almost constantly till morning.

I wish i could carry on co-sleeping but i need proper sleep...

So i was thinking of either controlled crying or the pick up put down...

What worries me about cc is that after being in my bed and feeding when ever she wants...cc might be a bit harsh. But does the pick up put down work? and if so on average how long does it take??

any one tryed either?? your stories and opinions would be very helpfull

Pick up put down worked very quickly for my DD.

We didn't do it to get her sleeping through but because we used to have to rock her to sleep in her crib but when she went into her big cot we were scuppered as we couldn't rock her anymore and couldn't get her to sleep.

SHe was sleeping through within about a week, which was a bonus.

She was only about 6 months though, not sure how it works with older babies.

Personally, I wouldn't do CC but I don't judge those who do. You might get a world of shit for mentioning it on here though, or for considering any kind of sleep training, but hopefully people will jusat give you pragmatic advice.
