7 month old crying in his sleep

Hi,
One of my DTs is crying so loudly in his sleep so he wakes himself (and his sister argghhh!) up.
I tend to whip him out of the room quickly before his sis is disturbed, and pop him next to our bed where he quickly settles. He wakes up several times a night crying, can sometimes be comforted with hand holding or a cuddle, but occasionally I need to resort to Calpol to calm him down and get him back to sleep.

Has anyone else experienced this, and can reassure me that it's temporary? I'm wondering if it's teething (neither have any teeth yet), or a bit of separation anxiety (but then why would Calpol help?). It's just so awful hearing him cry so desperately in the middle of the night

Does he wake up crying when he's in bed with you?

Sounds like teething, anyway, if Calpol helps. Have you tried some baby bonjela on his gums?
