Ds is almost a year. He's getting much better at sleeping through but still not reliable. He was waking between 6 and 7 but now it's closer to 5
he has 2 naps of usually between 45 mins and 1.5 hours at roughly 10 and 2. He up by 4 at the very latest after his last nap.
Bedtime is between 7 and half past.

What am I doing wrong???

Last time ge did this it was because he was getting too much day time sleep. Sure that can't be the case now can it?

Please advise me wise ones!

Hi mrsflux

I'm afraid I've got no ideas, but will be watching this thread with interest as I'm going through exactly the same thing...

My DD is one in just over a week and she's been waking anytime between 5-6 (used to be 6:30-7). She had a tummy bug last week and its been since then, so not sure if its hunger...

I've been looking online to see if I need to cut out her morning nap but seems slightly early.. She tends to have a 1-1.5 in morning and same in afternoon.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I think we have twins almost! Ds is one on 5th April and has all the same habits you describe.
I thought maybe he's ready for one nap but seems very early especially as he was still on 3 naps in January!

Well mine is 13 months and has been down to 1.5 hrs in the day (one nap) for quite a few months but is still waking devilishly early (4.45 today)... so it can't be the day sleep thing....

WATCHING WITH INTEREST! Any ideas welcome...

My 5 month old has been waking early - it was ever since the sun started rising earlier. My black out blinds were rubbish so we've fixed them. Also have white noise on to block out the noise from the birds. It has helped as DS will now sleep til 6.30/7 again.

Maybe a blind would help. The sun never bothered him last year tho...

I have a nearly 4 yr old DS and a 15 month old DD. I'm afraid the early waking thing seems to be a phase...

DS is now a great sleeper and has been since about 2 yrs (he also has a 'special clock' which shows him when it's ok for him to come into us). But when he was an older baby he went through a hellish phase of starting the day at 5am, nothing would induce him to go back to sleep. DD is showing signs of going the same way.

I do have blackout blinds in their bedroom but early waking seems to be hardwired somehow...

I found this article useful with my baby waking early:

Stop Baby Waking Early

It was horrible at the time - I was totally sleep deprived! lol!

RhinestoneCowgirl - what is this "special clock" which you have??
