Bye bye swaddle... HELP!

I need to get DD (7 months) out of her swaddle. She can't settle without it, unless in her car seat. She is huge (20lb), and it's getting harder and harder to do without any fancy swaddle blankes which I refuse to get now at her age.

She wriggles free during the night, it's disturbing her, me, and if I have to reswaddle her in the middle of the night one more time, I think I'll swaddle my own head and sit in a corner until I fall unconcious

Seriously though, please help. Swaddling with one arm fails miserably - she rubs eyes/ knocks her dummy out/grabs at the sides of her crib and cot whilst crying until she is so overtired that I give in and swaddle her only for her to fall asleep within a minute.

How do I do this without creating an overtired scream machine?

Oh that looks so lovely and snug, I wonder if they have adult sizes

I think I'll get one of those. I know I said I didn't want to buy anything but being realistic - it's going to have to be a gradual thing and hopefully this will get her used to not having her arms tightly at her side (and she can't break free ) and she can then move onto her sleeping bag.

Thanks

We used the Peke Moe with our DS who was chronic - if you put him down unswaddled, even in a deep sleep, he would start waving his arms around and hitting himself in the face/head until he woke himself up. Every. Time. I think the Peke Moe is great because they can move easily within them and suck on their hands for comfort if that's important, but it seem to keep him calm and restrained enough to sleep. He also looks v. cute in it! And it keeps him super-warm - no cold hands in the middle of the night.

Can't recommend them highly enough. Make sure you look at the gallery!
