Jay Gordon changing sleep patterns - anyone tried it?

Jay Gordon sleep

Has anyone tried this when you are co-sleeping? I'm co-sleeping with our 12 month old dd and she is feeding at least every 2 hours. I'm exhausted. I really need to get more sleep but can't do cc and she can't go into her own cot as I have broken my leg and can't pick her up during the night.

So has anyone tried Jay Gordon's method? Does it work? Is there a lot of crying? Will it mean lots of nights of no sleep for everyone in the house?

Yes it works, and yes there is crying. My DS at 15 months (also used to being fed back to sleep every 2 hours) was very angry and cried for 45 minutes the first night, maybe 10 the next and grumbeled for a few minutes for a few nights after that. At no point was he scared and alone though, he was just cross at not getting his way, and having to settle to sleep whithout nursing.

After 10 days or so he stopped waking me in the night, which was bliss. Past tense as he got new teeth and a bad cold all at once a bit later and reverted to waking twice a night. This weekend re-training begins.

Good luck, and try not to give in. It really is worth persevering.

Thanks for that. I think we will leave it a bit longer and just hope that things get better on their own.
