I am very lucky in that all of my dc's have been very good sleepers.

But ds2 (7 weeks) is now sleeping thru the night. I feed him at 10pm then he stirs about 6.30am.
Im not sure dd or ds1 were quite this good at 7 weeks.
Hes good in the day too, and will nap between feeds.
Im just waiting for it to all go horribly wrong

DD1 slept through the night from about 7 weeks. By 9 weeks she went down for 13 hours (but wouldn't sleep during the day). I was so smug. I really believed I was a better mother because of it . And then she hit two years, and sleepful nights were a thing of the past. I deserved it for smuggery.

My second child slept 7pm-7am from about 6 weeks old.

I had a really shite sleeper first time round, so I couldn't believe my luck.

Be very, very grateful!

you are being smug, but you deserve to be! I have no idea if this is normal but enjoy it

My Ds slept through from 1 week

herbaceous · 19/01/2010 12:23

I was smug when my DS slept through the night at 8 weeks. Then at 18 weeks, he started waking between two and four times a night, and has continued to do so. He's now six months, and waking every hour.

So don't be too smug just yet!

Surfermum · 19/01/2010 12:28

DD (6.5) did that from 5 weeks. She's always been a good sleeper and good at going to bed. She also never had a tantrum. She was known as "textbook baby" amongst the other ante-natal mums.

I learnt very quickly not to say anything to anyone about it, because even if you weren't being smug, some people would think you were. In fact I used to make up problems I was having with her just so I could feel part of the group.

Both DS's slept through from 10.30pm dream feed until 7am from around 10 weeks. It's not normal but it's certainly not a problem either.

I count myself very very lucky although I had the same problem as herbaceous in that once DS1 hit two years old we had a world of pain for around six months with several night wakings and tantrums at bedtime.

So don't worry, your time could come yet!

You do sound a tiny bit smug!!! I'd just count yourself lucky and hope it lasts. My 3 DCs slept through (7pm ish to 7am ish) from 8, 10 and 12 weeks respectively, so I was fairly smug too!! In RL most of my friends' babies seem to have slept through 10.30pm to 6.30am by around 6 or 7 weeks and it seems quite normal. I think the thing about internet forums like MN is that people tend to post if they have sleep issues and problems so it gives a skewed impression that it is not common for babies to sleep like this whereas actually it's a lottery and lots do and lots don't.
