Dummy-obsessed 2.6yo - how do I transition from cot to bed without dummies falling out??

DS loves his dummies. He still sleeps in a cot with a bumper, and I tend to chuck 2 or 3 dummies in with him each night so that he can easily find them.

Time has come to think about a big boy bed (DC2 is due in July, and we need the cot back) but how do I prevent dummies from just falling out of bed?

I would like him to stop having a dummy soon, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing it, especially as he's only really just started sleeping ok

Anyone got any tips?

use a dummy clip. (god send for us, we only have 1 dumy and when wanted e.g bedtime it is clipped onto babygrow)

Ooh, do you mean this sort of thing, amyjo?

They're definitely safe, are they?

Make sure he has a bedside table. Fill a plastic bowl with dummies and leave on his bedside table so he can help himself if his falls out at night. My sis in law does this for my nephew - he's 2.5 and it works v well.

Ooh, I might try that, Indigo. I guess he'd have to be quite awake to work it out whereas he finds his dummy in his sleep at the moment.

Ah, a bedside table... my little boy's growing up!
