Baby sleeping too much?

My 11 week old is a beautiful sleeper, in fact, he sleeps all the time it seems. I think during a 24h period he is only awake for a total of 6 hours or so, and over half of that time is spent feeding.
He feeds 3-4 times during the day, often falling asleep directly after feeding and he only seems to be able to stay awake for 1h to 1.5h max. At night apart from another 3 feeds or so he is out like a light.

Now I know I should not complain about this, but is this normal?

Yes, it's on the lucky side of normal! But watch out, it'll probably all change at 4 months (especially the nights!) My DS is now 17 weeks, and it's only now that he's able to stay awake 2 hours running. Up until a week ago, he could go 1.5 hours absolute maximum.

Enjoy it while it lasts!

Thanks it's nice to know he isn't the only one

I'm sure most mums and dads would kill for this 'luxury', but there is always something I have to find to worry myself about...

Hi, my daughter was like this and she is now 4 and still brilliant, she loves sleeping infact she is in bed by 6pm and unless she has nursery doesn't tend to get up till 9am and is a very happy girl full of energy, i say what ever you are doing carry on with it :-)

its early days!
what i would say is to start noticing the times he sleeps, and creating sleep opportunities at those times in future.
so so easy to break the sleep habit, and so so difficult to re-establish.
sounds like you are doing well anyway, keep up the good work
