1 Year old sleeping on tummy

My baby for the last year has slept on his back or side, but just lately seems to favour sleeping on his tummy, I have turned him on his back while asleep but this disburbs him and takes ages to get him back to sleep. He seems to sleep better when on his tummy then on his back at the moment, not sure why. However my question is that I know the advise for young babies is that they should sleep on there back, but once they reach 1yr is it safe/ok to sleep on tummy?

If he can turn himself to sleep on his tummy, surely he is strong enough to turn back to his side or back if he can not breath?

Yes, by that age it's fine. I assume he can roll front to back if he wants to?

as soon as your baby can roll over on their own, it's fine for them to sleep on their tummy.

I think it's before 6mo that you have to worry about this, or more specifically, til they can roll.

if they can roll all the way round, then they can right themselves.

1yo is absolutely fine.

Thank-you all for your messages/replies. Yes he can fully roll/turn. Glad that it is no problem, was just playing on my mind. Thank-you again :-)
