DS had a really good sleep routine until recently. Now will not sleep alone, and sometimes will only sleep on one of us. Any tips please? Am going slightly bonkers.

isn't 6 weeks a growth spurt? could be unsettled and out of routine due to that? Or could just be being newborn... I think 6 weeks is a bit early to have established any type of "routine" at all. don't worry about it!!

Sorry, no tips, we are in the same position but without ever having her sleep alone. It is very hard to even get her to sit in her bouncy chair if I need a wee! Occasionally we manage her having a nap in the chair, but that is with swaddling, good feed, burp, dummy, cuddle and song, then bouncing in chair and you have to keep the room noisy and keep going back to bounce her. Nightmare!

ErikaMaye six weeks (5-6 weeks) I reckon (since I am on number 3 right now!) is a time when they feel quite unsettled (and I'm sure someone else on the Nov 09 thread said that too). DS3 is going through a similar thing, esp for nap (yesterday was a nightmare!). I think it is when they just wake up a bit and realise they can stay awake and would rather be with you, as it is much more exciting than going to sleep. I think if you want him to sleep alone you could try swaddling him (and a song perhaps?), persistently putting him down, pick him up to calm him down, down again, etc, until he settles and understands that this means sleep time. Or sitting next to him so he knows you are there and pat him / shush etc. It might not work! And even if it does it might take ages to work.
