Earlier and earlier waking

My 21 month old DS2 has recently started waking at 5am! Do you think cutting his nap down to 45 mins may help?
I had to bring his nap back to 11.30-12.20 from 1.30 as he wouldn't settle at night. He goes to bed at 6.45-7pm.

has he ever done this before because my ds seems to go a few days doing this and then he'll go back to 6/6:30 again for a week or two...

i don't know how to remedy this. doesn't matter if ds has a nap or not, or what time he goes to bed, he still seems to wake up painfully early.

could it just be the earlier sunrises? has he got blackout curtains/blinds in his room?

Parker · 29/06/2005 19:05

Yes Starlover we have heavy duty blackout blinds but I cant control the birds who seem to be up v early at the moment.

ahh yes... know that problem!

We seem to have masses of crowing wood pigeons, so maybe they start up on his roof at 5am ish. I am starting to have that too tired to do anything feeling so I may try earplugs tonight as he is perfectly happy. What do you think about the nap times though?

I think it is just the time of year, I too have blackout blinds but ds (2.8) who has always slept well has become an early riser!
