4mo - tired more, able to sleep less...

Hi

Our 4mo is getting less and less able to sleep - takes ages to get off (after a load of stress and panic) and wakes after half an hour in the day, and each hour at night - crying because he is tired and wants to sleep, but doesn't know how.

Has anyone found a way to help such a baby to sleep? Perhaps there is even some homeopathic medicine that helps babies to sleep? He is absolutely unable to settle himself, requiring a lot of support.

Any help appreciated!! Any help that actually works very very greatly appreciated....

Oh my goodness! I could have written this post.

I think the reason our little one has trouble is that the world is just far too exciting and there is soooo much to discover. That is much more fun than sleeping!

Will read replies with interest, although I'm not too keen to go down the medicine route!

I'm in the same boat. DS aged 3.5 months has become harder to settle for naps and in the night after feeds. In desperation I've brought him into my bed in the night which works... but I'm worried he'll be in my bed till he's 3. Well I exaggerate but it's true that while I like co-sleeping and don't mind at all now, I don't want it to continue long-term (and nor does DH, currently in the other bedroom).

I think in our case a cold, then jabs, have had an impact on him. But also I just think they are reaching an age where they are so much more aware of their surroundings and are processing it all.

Sometimes at night I can settle him by keeping my hand on his chest and shushing until he settles or finds his thumb to suck, but not always. I think he would happily sleep on my shoulder all night. Can't really blame him, it's warm!
